It\u2019s been a busy year, especially for the team at e-CBD. In the digital world SEO is no longer a buzz word, there have been a number of Google updates and we\u2019ve seen mobile internet usage soar. The e-CBD website<\/a> has had a complete rebrand, our community service site Gold Coast Lawyers<\/a> has had a total redesign to be user friendly across all devices, and we\u2019ve launched some major sites like the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre<\/a> and Magnificent Milton<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now after a great year we\u2019ve taken out the MACCAs Award for Best Website<\/a> AGAIN, and it\u2019s time we took a break. But before we leave for the year we wanted to leave you with some tips for managing your online presence over the holiday period.<\/p>\n

We’re Going on Holidays!<\/h2>\n

We’ve worked hard this year, so e-CBD will be closing the office over the holiday period. Our final day will be Friday December 20, but we\u2019ll be back on Monday, January 6. If you have any urgent updates we will have some staff on call, so drop Marilyn a line at marilynstrauss@e-cbd.com<\/a><\/p>\n

Checking email while you’re out of the office<\/h2>\n

If you want to keep abreast of everything while you’re out of the office (and you’re hosted with Ilisys), you’ll be able to use webmail to view any email accounts you own.<\/p>\n

Your webmail password is the same as the one you use in Outlook (or your iPhone, or Blackberry or whichever program you use). If you\u2019ve forgotten your password, drop us a line before the 20th and we\u2019ll tell you what it is.<\/p>\n

Need to set up a Vacation Message?<\/h2>\n

If your emails are hosted with us (Ilisys), you can easily let people know you\u2019re away by logging in to the Ilisys Toolkit and setting up an automated vacation message. Type in your personalised message response which will be sent to anyone who emails you.<\/p>\n

Under the \u2018My Services\u2019 column on the left there\u2019s a menu item called \u2018Email Setup\u2019. Once you select that, you\u2019ll see the email addresses associated with your domain name \u2013 pick the one you want and select the \u2018Enable a vacation message\u2019 box.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re not hosted with Ilisys, ask your web provider if they can do the same thing, it should be a pretty simple option to set up.<\/p>\n

Schedule your Tweets & Facebook Posts<\/h2>\n

Just because you\u2019re on holiday doesn\u2019t mean your social media has to be. You can schedule tweets and Facebook posts to occur over the break while you\u2019re away from the computer so your business stays in your client\u2019s minds.<\/p>\n

To schedule a post that’ll appear on your Facebook Timeline at a later date, simply compose your status update, link, photo or video, then click on the clock face icon in the bottom left of the status box. From here you can select the date and time up to 6 months in advance (and can schedule several future posts).<\/p>\n

It\u2019s that easy! Keep in mind that you cannot schedule a future post if you\u2019ve set your Facebook page up as a person instead of a business.<\/p>\n

To schedule a tweet you will need an app like TweetDeck<\/a> (which is owned by Twitter) to do so. Once you\u2019ve signed in, all you need to do is compose a tweet and click on the clock face icon in the tool bar below your message. From here you can select the date and time for your tweet to be posted. It will appear in a ‘Scheduled’ column too which gives you the opportunity to edit your tweet before it is due to be sent.<\/p>\n
