Or worse, leave during the last step of the transaction. Why did they bail? Was it something you did?<\/p>\n<p>Probably.<\/p>\n<p>Most sites are built to just work. There&#8217;s no need to think about the user experience when it works&#8230;until you&#8217;ve only had 3 orders in as many months.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re starting a new E-commerce site then you should study this infographic hard. If you have a struggling online store, or if you think you can get better results then read on.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>If the average shopping cart abandonment rate is 65% and the average online order is $116 then out of 100 visitors who have put something in the cart you&#8217;re missing out on a possible $7540! Why do you hate making money so much?<\/p>\n<p>Granted, there&#8217;s some issues you can&#8217;t control: the user isn&#8217;t ready to purchase, it costs too much, they want to save it for a later date, etc. There are some things you can control and any e-commerce software worth its salt has these capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>If I had to pick the 5 most important shopping cart usability features they would be:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Allow me to checkout as a guest<\/li>\n<li>Only ask for information that&#8217;s needed to complete the transaction<\/li>\n<li>Show my progress as they go through the checkout process<\/li>\n<li>Be transparent, don&#8217;t surprise me with any extra fees at the end<\/li>\n<li>Use a fast, reliable server that won&#8217;t timeout when I click &#8220;Submit Order&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.invesp.com\/shopping-cart-abandonment.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.invesp.com\/shopping-cart-abandonment.jpg\" alt=\"Shopping Cart Abandonment Rate Statistics\" width=\"580\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Infographic by \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.invesp.com\/\">Invesp<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Interested in upgrading your online store?
