Facebook Ad Targeting
In this Facebook Live video, Luke talks about how Facebook ad targeting can effectively show your Facebook ads to your target audience.
Facebook advertising consists of a lot of options and ways to engage potential customers. For today, we’re just focusing on how to target your Facebook ads so they reach the appropriate audience.
Insights
The first thing to do is to have a look at your Facebook insights, in particular, the People Tab, and that gives you age, gender and location information which can be very useful to understand who is already engaging with your posts and page. The other thing to look at is the Post Tab, here you will find statistics on what posts have worked previously so that you can continue to create successful posts in the future.
Facebook Analytics
To be able to use Facebook analytics, you need to have a facebook pixel installed on your website. This will ensure you get the most out of analytics and Facebook ads in general. Once you have the Facebook pixel installed, you will start seeing information related to how people on Facebook then interact with your website.
Google Analytics
If you don’t have Google Analytics installed on your website, then we encourage you to do so. Otherwise, you’re just flying blind and you won’t have a good understanding of your website visitors. Most importantly, you’ll want to have goals set up so that you know when someone submits a lead or makes a purchase for example.
Ad Targeting
Budget
At a minimum, we recommend $5 per day. Depending on the type of ad, Facebook will prompt you to spend more when it identifies that you are missing out on opportunities.
Geographical targeting
Target the area that you can service, perhaps experiment to discover other opportunities.
Age & Gender
Appropriate age for product or service, perhaps experiment to discover other opportunities.
Detail Targeting
This can be a little bit daunting as there are a lot of options. Use these options to narrow down your target audience, but also be careful to not too narrow it down so much that you’re excluding potential customers. You’ll want to allow around 1-2 weeks to get an idea of how your ads are performing.
Experimenting
It’s important to experiment and try different things with all of the targeting options, then analyse to find out what works and what doesn’t.
